چکیده

Other names: EDR; HB-1; KIAA1051; MEF3L; Mar2; Mart2; RGAG3 HGNC (Hugo): PEG10 Location: 7q21.3 Local order: Located next to the sarcoglycan epsilon gene SGCE in a head-to-head orientation. The transcription start sites of these two genes are separated by 130 bp. Both genes belong to a maternally imprinted gene cluster in humans as well as in the syntenic chromosomal regions of several other mammalian species and are expressed from the paternal allele.

Paternally expressed imprinted genes establish postzygotic hybridization barriers in Arabidopsis thaliana

Genomic imprinting is an epigenetic phenomenon causing parent-of-origin specific differential expression of maternally and paternally inherited alleles. While many imprinted genes have been identified in plants, the functional roles of most of them are unknown. In this study, we systematically examine the functional requirement of paternally expressed imprinted genes (PEGs) during seed developm...

Human PEG1/MEST, an imprinted gene on chromosome 7.

The mouse Peg1/Mest gene is an imprinted gene that is expressed particularly in mesodermal tissues in early embryonic stages. It was the most abundant imprinted gene among eight paternally expressed genes (Peg 1-8) isolated by a subtraction-hybridization method from a mouse embryonal cDNA library. It has been mapped to proximal mouse chromosome 6, maternal duplication of which causes early embr...

Genomic Imprinting in the Arabidopsis Embryo Is Partly Regulated by PRC2

Genomic imprinting results in monoallelic gene expression in a parent-of-origin-dependent manner and is regulated by the differential epigenetic marking of the parental alleles. In plants, genomic imprinting has been primarily described for genes expressed in the endosperm, a tissue nourishing the developing embryo that does not contribute to the next generation. In Arabidopsis, the genes MEDEA...

Control of Paternally Expressed Imprinted UPWARD CURLY LEAF1, a Gene Encoding an F-Box Protein That Regulates CURLY LEAF Polycomb Protein, in the Arabidopsis Endosperm

Genomic imprinting, an epigenetic process in mammals and flowering plants, refers to the differential expression of alleles of the same genes in a parent-of-origin-specific manner. In Arabidopsis, imprinting occurs primarily in the endosperm, which nourishes the developing embryo. Recent high-throughput sequencing analyses revealed that more than 200 loci are imprinted in Arabidopsis; however, ...

Coadaptation in mother and infant regulated by a paternally expressed imprinted gene.

This study investigates how a targeted mutation of a paternally expressed imprinted gene regulates multiple aspects of foetal and post-natal development including placental size, foetal growth, suckling and post-natal growth, weaning age and puberty onset. This same mutation in a mother impairs maternal reproductive success with reduced maternal care, reduced maternal food intake during pregnan...
